Every fall, the D.C. Bar Board of Governors seeks candidates for appointments to the Lawyer Assistance Committee (LAC). The LAC is a standing committee of the D.C. Bar. Members assist with outreach initiatives and identify ways to increase the reach and utilization of the LAP. The LAC consists of 13 D.C. Bar members and one non-lawyer. Members meet on Zoom or at D.C. Bar headquarters on the second Tuesday of every other month from 4:45 to 5:45p.m. beginning in November. Appointments are made in the fall. All candidates must be members in good standing of the D.C. Bar, except the position designated for a non-lawyer member. LAC members are appointed to serve a two-year term. Members can serve a total of three consecutive two-year terms.

If you would like to apply for a LAC vacancy, please submit a résumé and a cover letter describing your interest, along with a description of work, volunteer or personal relevant qualifications and email to [email protected]. Applications that do not include the requisite cover letter with a description of relevant experience will not be considered. Leadership experience with other D.C. Bar committees, voluntary bar associations, or D.C. Bar's Communities is highly desirable.

Applicants must submit a cover letter and resume to [email protected] or mail to the D.C. Bar Executive Office, 901 4th Street NW, Washington, DC 20001.
